Think You Can Land a Pike Faster Than Everyone Else?
The Fish Fight Simulator is back for the Glasgow Angling Centre Autumn Open Weekend, but this time there is much more than bragging rights on the line.
Across all three days of the event, we're running the simulator as a competition to find out who can land a virtual Pike in the fastest time of the weekend.
Westin are backing the challenge and supplying the tackle you'll use to fight the fish. You'll be handed a Westin W3 spinning rod and matching reel loaded with Westin braid, then it is down to you to keep the pressure on, control the fish and get that Pike landed as quickly as possible.
The Challenge
Land the Pike in the fastest possible time.
We'll record the quickest times throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the fastest successful time across the entire Open Weekend taking the prize.
Win the Westin Setup You Fish With
There is a pretty good incentive for getting that Pike to the net.
The angler sitting at the top of the leaderboard when the competition closes on Sunday will win the Westin rod and reel combo, giving them the chance to swap the virtual fish for the real thing and take their new setup out in search of trophy predators.
Using the same tackle for every attempt keeps the challenge simple. Everyone gets the same setup and the same target. What happens next comes down to how you play the fish.
Keep the Pressure On
The Fish Fight Simulator recreates the pull, runs and changes of direction you would expect from a fish on the end of the line. It sounds straightforward until the rod loads up and the fish decides it wants to go the other way.
Pull too hard and you can lose it. Give the fish too much freedom and valuable seconds disappear from the clock. The trick is finding the balance and keeping steady pressure on until the Pike is beaten.
If you've spent plenty of time chasing Pike and predators, this is your chance to put those fish-playing skills to the test. If you've never fought a big Pike before, this is a considerably drier way to find out what all the fuss is about.
Can You Top the Leaderboard?
You can have a go throughout the Glasgow Angling Centre Autumn Open Weekend, 25th to 27th September 2026.
We'll be keeping track of the quickest successful Pike fights across the weekend, so even if you set an early benchmark on Friday, you'll have to wait and see whether your time survives the challenge from Saturday and Sunday.
There are going to be plenty of predator anglers coming through the doors, so we're expecting things to get competitive.
Think you've got the technique to put everyone else in their place?
Grab the Westin setup, take on the Pike and put a time on the board.
