Fly Tying Focus – Alex Rook (Veniard)
We’re delighted to welcome Alex Rook to Fly Tyers’ Row representing Veniard. If you've got a far- flung Fly-Fishing Trip booked or there's one on your bucket list, Alex is the man you’ll want to speak to.
We caught up with him ahead of the Open Weekend to see what he’s preparing:
“At the show I’ll be tying jungle flies for Golden Dorado in Bolivia - I stock up on them in various colours and sizes, keeping the baitfish profile all tied on heavy duty hooks to deal with big fish.
They’re tied using Veniard Streamer Fur, which gives the patterns outstanding movement in the water. It's also incredibly light to cast & sheds water really well, which means you're not trying to cast and fish with a waterlogged pattern. "
