How to tie the Ultimate Winter Banker with Steve Cullen

Even though the temperature is dropping, the fish are still biting. For those still getting out in the cold, fishing their local stillwater through the colder months, Steve Cullen has a pattern for you: The Ultimate winter Banker - The Stillwater Stealth Cormorant.

The pattern in question is a Cormorant, which is arguably one of the simplest flies to tie, but one of the most effective patterns to use on any UK water. The Cormorant has been around for a few years since Graham Pearson made them famous through his extensive use and success with the fly. In any case, this pattern is an absolute Trout magnet and you should definitely give it a go on your local water!

Thread: Uni 8/0 Thread

Rib: Veniard Micro Glint Tinsel

Body: Uni Pearl Mylar

Wing: Veniard Large Selected Marabou & Veniard Crystal Mirror Flash

Head: Electric Seal Dubbing Ballinderry Black

Varnish: Gulff UV Curable Varnish 15ml
