If you're not familiar with the YouTube channel, IB & Andy, let us get you up to speed. IB & Andy are a fishing couple based in Derbyshire, England, who create content covering all sorts of fishing in the UK. Lately, Ieva gave fly tying another go after 4 years and her chosen fly to tie is a Mayfly pattern.
Learning to tie flies is a great experience and there are many resources out there that can help you do it. A traditional method is by picking up books written by acclaimed fly tyers and tying step-by-step on their written instruction. However, video tutorials are starting to become the standard for learning, as they are widely accessible, free and are loaded with hints, tips and tricks that you wouldn't normally find in a published fly tying book.
Ieva makes use of a How To Tie tutorial from the SJS Fly Tying channel and ends up creating a solid MayFly pattern - To many professionals and seasoned tyers, it might be missing a few things or might be a bit rough in areas, but this is a humbling experience to watch, as we all started somewhere and regardless of opinion, having a go is better than not trying at all - Well done Ieva!
