Today, with the help of Kev Cox of Fox Rage, we are going to settle the reoccuring question, does the colour of your lure really make a difference when targeting Pike?
In his arsenal, Kev has brought with him big, bold and flashy lures as well as, naturally coloured lures. Now, it only makes sense that something that "matches the hatch" would work better than something that's so unnatural right? Wrong.

We can see from the video that Kev covers his swim quickly with the naturally coloured baits, a couple shads and a crayfish imitation. In his own words "They aren't even turning" and it seems as though the Pike are just not interested in them.

Switching over to the flashy coloured lures, Kev covers his swim again, but this time the Pike are following, so close infact they're almost at his toes! It doesn't take long before the Pike strike and he's landing fish after fish on his bold and flashy lures!

This is probably down to a few factors and Kev mentions in his video that the Pike in this venue probably aren't fished regularly, using lures. The water temperature is also warmer and the conditions are crystal clear. It can also be down to the action of the lures: A paddle tail vs a curltail, there's going to be more disturbance from the Curltail, which can be all a Pike needs to make the decision to strike.
