Clyde In the Classroom AND the Angling Centre!

We had the privilege of attending the “Clyde In the Classroom” launch at the Glasgow Science Centre. The project, run by the Clyde River Foundation charity is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and they’re onboarding the 2000th class and 50’000th child this year. During the 4th day of their run at the Science Centre, we went along to speak with Dr Yeomans and attend the talks given by Jen and Marissa to the classes taking responsibility for hatcheries in 2025.

Clyde In The Classroom Team at the Science Centre

If you’re an angler you’ve got more than a passing interest in looking after the rivers and the fish that reside there, sitting in a room with a crowd of very well-behaved youngsters it’s heartwarming to see them be so engaged with the subject too. Shout out to the young lad who spotted the Lamprey and Stickleback in the wee quiz identifying the fish species that live in the Clyde, wonder if he’s a fisherman?

The scale and professionalism of the launch event was clear, with a hundred classes of school children visiting the centre in a week all learning about the River Clyde, the wildlife and the environmental threats faced plus how they’d specifically be involved in rearing and then releasing Brown Trout into the river system.
