Learn how to tie the Hair Hackle Ally McCoist with Steve Cullen

Today we are taking a look at a different take on a Stillwater favourite in Scotland, the Hair Hackle Ally McCoist! Named after the famous Scottish Football star, Ally McCoist. This fly has been a proper secret weapon for Trout & has had many variations through the years but the original is attributed to stillwater angler Jake Munro amongst others.
This pattern is a fantastic lure for when fish are being picky about what they're preying on. It imitates that of a Tadpole or Dog Nobbler and can be fished with a floating, sinking or intermediate line but for the best results, fish this pattern slow and low!

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help.
