Match three of the 2024 Edinburgh Winter League was fished on the 8th of November at Newhaven Breakwater on a windless evening. With 480 fish counted and many more caught the fishing was anything but calm!
Flat Calm Evening on Newhaven Breakwater |
The 31 anglers turning up to fish match 3 of the Edinburgh Winter Shore League at Newhaven had a busy night. 480 size fish were caught among the anglers with the usual Whiting & Dabs in abundance. Good news for the Cod anglers with stormy nights ahead, a good number of larger Codling were caught too (the biggest at 47cm, and 19 others over the legal size limit) One angler managed six Cod over 35cm in his 20 fish bag. Fantastic to see numbers of fish this size on the local coastline.
Longest fish of the night was a surprise 59cm dogfish caught by Stuart Macfarlane, the guys fished in a beautiful flat calm and were treated to the occasional display of fireworks in the distance!
Sponsored by Fishingmegastore and Cox & Rawle this match series promotes the excellent fishing available close to the city and an opportunity for anglers of all abilities to fish alongside experienced anglers in a competitive social setting.
