The open frame is utilised on sizes where weight reduction and rapid spool changes are essential.
A closed frame is employed on both the 5000 EN and 9000 models where thin running lines or specialist euronymph lines may be used.

Designed to meet the exacting standards of todays Euro Nymphing and technical light line river anglers the Averon 5000 EN has been designed with a shallow, narrow profile large arbour spool to facilitate rapid line pick up and neat stacking. Hardy's renowned fine tolerance machining have also been further tightened where possible to optimize for small diameter lines, reduce line slip, and prevent snagging. At the heart of the reel is a simple, secure weighting system that allows fine tuning of the rod/reel balance.
