How to tie the Half In, Half Out, Dry Fly with Steve Cullen

This pattern is one of Steve's favourites for prospecting on open water. This is a variation of the ultra successful Yellow Owl, his "Half In, Half Out Dry Fly". This variation incorporates features of another fish killer the Elk Hair Caddis plus if you want to make the fly a little more appealing, you can add legs.  This is a perfect pattern for when you're looking to cover water, bringing on rises by casting around and pulling them up in the water. Get a few of these flies tied up, both with and without legs and have a try with them on your local!

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help.
