Daiwa Fish of the Week Entries 2024 #33 - Carp, Perch, Pike, Wrasse, Salmon, Brown Trout, Thornback Ray and more

This week’s entries brimming with exciting catches from a variety of venues, including Loch Tay, the River Dee, Magiscroft and Drumtassie Coarse Fisheries and all the way to Norway. The entrants have landed everything from Brown trout and pike to mirror carp and thornback rays using a variety of gear, including Shakespeare rods and Daiwa reels. With record-breaking moments, personal bests, and heart-pounding fights that show off the variety of fishing available on our doorstep or wherever your travels take you.

Beau Nellis, second time carp fishing, landing himself a 11lb 6oz common carp at Drumtassie Coarse Fishery, he caught it on a 8ft shakespeare omni feeder rod from Fishingmegastore.com


Stuart McLauchlin - Caught a nice 15lbs wild trout up at loch tay, only the tenth or so fish I have ever caught and over 3 times my previous PB. Bit of a bitter sweet moment being my tenth catch and I will probably never veat it but it wont stop me from trying.
Caught using a 9ft ugly stick, diawia ninja 18lt with a pike swimbait lure.



Ainsley Goudie's fish of the week entry a thornback ray of 10lb 2oz her first double figure ray taken on a pulley rig baited with mackerel was one of 12 today 13th of August caught on conti style rod and reel


Stuart Miller - caught this fish on my recent trip to Bergsfyord Norway. 
The huge ling was taken on a pirk in 150m of water stripping line from the reel with several powerful runs during the fight ,the ling measured 1.7m and weighed 53lbs
 


Ryan Saba - 2.2lb  Ballan wrasse at Dunbar, Was caught with a simple scratching rig with some lugworm, all bought from the Edinburgh angling centre, The swells were high and we had no hope off catching anything I pulled this out just  after 25 minutes of fishing made my day a new PB wrasse

 
Cody Scade - 12 year old son Cody caught this lovely mirror carp at Magiscroft on Monday 12th Aug. on double maggot. Unbelievably he caught it on a telescopic pen rod and mini reel, understandably it was a very nervous fight to land the fish but both lads managed to get it netted thanks to help from his friend Heath who did a great job with the net

Charlie Glover I caught this 6 pound pike on the river Dee the other night. Caught it on a spoon around 7 o’clock.


Xander Innes age 12 On his first trip to loch awe this year with his dad and papa I caught this Pike, it's the biggest fish he's ever caught.

Tyler Cook - This perch was caught near crocketford Dumfries on my kayak using a basic worm rig drop shot method on a 6,5ft Shakespeare spinning rod shimano reel with 8lb mono was catching small ones all day then this belter took me by surprise with a good fight

Kian Clarke -  was fishing at Loch Awe and eating dinner. when heard his bite alarm go off. 


Jack Weir with his very first 14.8lb Mirror Carp. Jack and dad Andrew had a Fantastic night netting 3 beauties.

Mark Heron - was one of the best fights av had never experienced a fight like this on ultralight gear on the local river was playing for a good 15 mins solid  best fighting wild brown trout i have caught



Scott Mackenzie - Fishing edges along the forss river in caithness using a 10-35g savage gear spinning rod and a black 28g seeker
