Today we are checking out the Slow Sink Buzzer tied by Steve Cullen! As Steve points out when fish are feeding high in the water it can become a chose to keep your fly in the zone to attract them, so slowing the sink rate of your fly maximises your chance of tempting one on the drop. Some fly tyers make use of hackles to slow the sink, but as Steve points out the hook choice plays a key role in slowing the sink rate especially on such a minimal pattern. Make sure you have a few of these flies tied up for those days when the fish are being picky!
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help.
