Today we are taking a look at a cool wild Brown Trout pattern called the Half Hog, tied by Steve Cullen. It's a challenging little fly to tie, but it's worth the time and effort, especially if you're intending to fish any rivers or reservoirs. The half hog is ideally fished by itself, but it can be fished in a team if need be. It works particularly well when there's a chop on the water, as it sits in that and you can see it from a good distance. If you're wanting a challenge, give this fly a go and you'll not be disappointed!
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help.
