Today we are checking out probably, one of the brightest flies we've ever seen! The Genghis Blooby, tied by Steve Cullen. It's bright, it's big and it's designed to pull the attention of fish from miles away! Steve first witnessed this fly being used in an International match on Bewl. It was being used by an opposing team and it was providing some excellent results.
It's a fairly straight forward fly to tie, usually on a size 6 hook, with a light coloured thread. Two complimentary colours of fritz and a nice sized booby eye, preferably with each eye being rounded using a lighter. Finishing off with a good painting of resin, in your preferred colour. For this example, it's a lovely bright yellow. Get a few of these tied up in bright, flashy colours, ready for your next session!
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help.
