Today we are checking out The Black and Red Buzzer, tied by Steve Cullen. It might just be a Buzzer, but Chronomids are the staple diet of all stillwater Trout and as Steve explains this is a simple, effective fly that seems to fish better when tied to a straight hook. Common Buzzer flies are typically tied to a grub or buzzer style hook with a constant curve. Steve tends to make use of this fly in the early season, when bloodworms are being targeted by hungry Trout.
This buzzer is effective, easy to tie and it only requires a small handful of materials! Get a few of these tied up, ready to go for the Season's start!
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help.
