How to tie The Yellow Owl, Deer Shucker Dry Fly by Steve Cullen



Today we are checking out Steve Cullen's Yellow Owl, Deer-Shucker Dry Fly. This pattern is a take on a fly found on Caledonia Fly called the Deer-Shucker. However, Steve's variant has this tied onto a completely different style of hook with two thread deniers. He uses the 8/0 in Cahill, as his tying thread and the heavier thread is used as ribbing, which would normally be fine wire on a standard Deer-Shucker.
