How to tie the Specialist Booby, with Steve Cullen

Steve Cullen - Specialist Booby

As we approach the Winter months of the year and the water starts to cool down, it's time to switch up the patterns. This Specialist Booby has some Sparkler styling and will be a superb pattern through the Autumn & Winter.

Steve explains that this fly is called the "Jenkins Specialist Booby" however its design is attributed to an angler called Anthony Cartwright. It's a simple fly to create and Steve explains that the wing can be full Silver or full Gold, but his preference is a mix of the two.

An excellent pattern for the colder months of the year, so get a few tied up, ready for those planned Winter trips.

Materials Used:

Hook: Kamasan B175 Trout Heavy Traditional Size 10

Thread: UNI 8/0 Fire Orange

Beard: Glo-brite No.4

Wing: Mix of Gold and Silver Flash

Head: Preformed Booby Eyes 5mm
