Fishing Old School Lures for Swedish Pike /OnTheHookFishing

In the world of Predator fishing, specifically for freshwater predators such as Pike and Zander, there are a multitude of lures out there. We have hundreds of brands specializing in Predator fishing, bringing forth a new wave of lures that include soft plastics, crankbaits, jerkbaits and surface/floating lures. Variety is the spice of life but sometimes, keeping it simple is usually the more enjoyable route to go. Today we join Fred as he takes up a spinning rod in search of Swedish Pike, using retro lures that were originally created back in the 1950’s.  Accompanying Fred in his search for Pike is fishing legend Tobias Fränstam from Abu Garcia!

The lures that both Fred and Tobias will be using are the Abu Garcia Atom and the Abu Garcia Hi-Lo lures. Both were created around the 50's and have had subtle upgrades to them in terms of connecting loops and split rings, but the traditional form is still there and remains unchanged. As well as going retro on lures, they also go old school on reaching their fishing destination, using a row boat. Both anglers have their preferred setups and start fishing the shallows of the lake, bringing in catch after catch. It just goes to show that you don't need all the latest gear to catch fish, sometimes you just need a big spoon!
