How to Tie the Apéritif Cruncher by Steve Cullen

Today we are checking out a fly that does incredibly well during the colder months of the year, specifically the months September through to December. The Apéritif Cruncher as Steve explains, is a pattern you want to fish solo or hanging below a large fry style pattern. In the colder months, Trout are actively looking to the surface for fry to prey on and this cruncher mixed with a fry pattern is deadly. It also performs well in a team with other Nymphs or Buzzers when you aren't fishing lures, Steve also recommends switching it up with a variant where you create a hotspot by swapping the Black thread for a striking colour like Fluorescent Orange, both patterns are killers on the right day.

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie the Blank Buster, with the guidance of Steve Cullen.
