How to tie a 3D Damsel by Steve Cullen

Today we are checking out the 3D Damsel tied by Steve Cullen. Steve talks about how this fly is a fantastic pattern for targeting both Rainbow and Brown Trout! It can be used all year long, however it finds the best results when used during the Summer and Autumn months. The key to a good 3D Damsel lays in the length of the tail, as Steve mentions, the tail must be the right length for fish to inhale as opposed to getting frustrating tail nipping takes! Steve's 3D Damsel variation uses his preferred single Copper Bead at the eye rather than the standard dumbbell style eye on a traditional a Damsel Nymph, try a red or gold version as a quick colour change if you're not getting bites.

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie the 3D Damsel, with the guidance of Steve Cullen.
