How to tie the Meat Whistle by Steve Cullen

Today we are having a look at Steve Cullen's take on the Meat Whistle! For those who don't know about this fly, it was originally created by master fly tier, John Barr. John created this fly for Bass fishing in Colorado to replicate the "Pig n' Jig" used by conventional tackle anglers. Whether he knew or not, this fly is also perfect for Trout when tied with colours that imitate that of a small baitfish! The best way to fish this fly is to fish it slow, allow it to sink and bump it along the bottom, similar in style to jigging a lure on a jighead!

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie the Meat Whistle, with the guidance of Steve Cullen.
