Today we are checking out Steve Cullen tying a Headly's Booby. The Headly's booby is a variation of a very popular fly amongst competition and amateur fly anglers. It is based off of a Cat Booby, but as Steve explains, the Headly's Booby is bit more striking in appearance due to the combination of colours used. He further explains that the Headly's Booby is named after Stan Headly, the man who created the pattern and famous fishing writer. According to Steve, this is a fly that Mr Headly would have ready in his cast when other patterns aren't producing takes.
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie the Headley's Booby, with the guidance of Steve Cullen.
