Tying a Tippet Octopus Wet Fly with Davie McPhail

The Octopus Fly is essentially a wet Mayfly pattern that is particularly popular on Irish Loughs. These flies vary greatly in colour, some bearing little resemblance to the hatching natural fly. Most of the popular patterns include classics such as the Lansdale and Lough Erne Gosling as well as modern flies with muddler heads and bodies of gold and pearl. The Variant that Davie is tying today is a take on the Octopus Fly but adding Golden Pheasant Tippet and Olive Badger Hen hackles.

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie a Tippet Octopus Wet Fly, with the guidance of Davie McPhail.
