Tying a Small Bait Fish Pattern with Davie McPhail

Simple and effective, the Small Bait Fish Pattern is an excellent fly for targeting various species. This fly only requires a small amount of material to be made and can be further changed and modified through Marker pens, adding basic designs and patterns to the fibres. As mentioned before, this is a fly for various species, Pike and Perch will readily attack this pattern. Brown Trout will also attack this pattern towards the latter end of the season, when they are actively feeding on Fry to weigh up for the Winter. This pattern is also versatile, it can be tied on different sized hooks, this allows Anglers to tie this fly to suit the waters they fish.

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie the Small Bait Fish Pattern, with the guidance of Davie McPhail.
