Today we are looking at a Small Emerger Dun, simply put, this is a Dry Fly pattern converted into an Emerger pattern. Similar in style to the Olive Dun patterns, this pattern is popular and being very easy to tie, it makes for a good fly to have in various colours. When hatches occur on mass, this pattern is generic enough to pass as other winged Emergers, and is an excellent choice of fly when competing with large hatches.
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie a Small Emerger Dun, with the guidance of Davie McPhail.
