Tying a Blue Montana Nymph with Davie McPhail

The Montana Nymph is one of the most well know nymph flies out there. The traditional Montana Nymph was a Yellow and Black mix, however, Davie has changed it up and is using a Teal Blue and Black pattern. Browns and Rainbows will take these flies, so long as you have the right pattern on the go. They are simple and look like any other Nymph, however their fish catching history is unrivaled and its a must have fly for your fly box, especially in different pattern variants.

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie a Blue Montana Nymph Fly, with the guidance of Davie McPhail.

Materials Used:
Hook: Size Standard Lure Thread: Black Uni-8/0 Tail: Black Hen or Cock Fibres
