Scott Mackenzie Confirmed for the GAC Spring 2019 Open Weekend

We are pleased to announce that once again Scott Mackenzie will be joining us for our upcoming Spring Open Weekend Event on the 1st - 3rd March 2019. Scott is the man behind the best selling DTX range of fly rods, as well as being a 3 times world Spey casting champion, an AAPGAI qualified casting instructor, and former full-time ghillie with over 22 years experience on some of the best Salmon rivers in Scotland.

At this year's event, Scott will be unveiling the new range of Mackenzie FX1 Graphene Salt Fly Rods and the new NX1 Single Hand Trout and NX1 Double Hand Salmon Rods, as well as promoting the full Mackenzie range. The development of the NX1 Salt and FX1 Trout is a product of the collective experience and expertise of Scott and his fantastic pro team, including Andrew Toft, Paul Proctor, and Ian Kirk.  Be one of the first in the UK to have a cast with these amazing rods!

Mackenzie NX1 River Series
The new NX1 range of rods is the next step up from the highly successful and award winning G2 range of Mackenzie DTX rods. These new 4 piece rods incorporate the latest nano-tube technology which reduces rod weight and increases the carbon strength which therefore aids in the transfer of power throughout the rod.

There are three distinct categories of NX1 rod designed to achieve great results whether fishing for trout in small intimate streams right through to double handed rods for chasing that prized salmon:

NX1 River Sizes: 8’6” #3, #4 & #5; 9’ #4 & #5; 10’ #3,#4 & #5.
NX1 Stillwater Sizes: ’6” #3, #4 & #5; 9’ #4 & #5; 10’ #3,#4 & #5.
NX1 Double Handed Sizes: 13’, 14’ & 15’

The NX1 has been designed for the modern angler in mind and is capable of handling all modern lines for achieving optimum performance. These are mid-range priced rods but built from high quality blanks, stripper guides and snake eyes.  All of these new rods also come in a cloth case and triangular sectioned tube.

The FX1 Salt features a progressive action and fast recovery making this powerful 10-weight behave like a rod a couple of line sizes lighter.  It is also an absolute pleasure to cast. Designed for the rigours of flats species like permit, tarpon and snook, but it is equally at home presenting a lightweight crab pattern to permit, or casting more bulky creations at rolling tarpon in open water.

So get yourself along to the Open Weekend to meet Scott and his time and become one of the first people in the UK to get your hands on one of the new rods. Of course, you can go one better and be one of the first people in the UK to actually try casting these new rods in our bespoke casting pool under the supervision of Scott, Paul, or Andrew!
