GAC Spring 2018 Open Weekend
It's nearly that time of year to look out your rods, reels, waders and tackle boxes as the start of a new fishing season approaches. All those months cooped up indoors, anticipating the forthcoming year's fishing adventures, is about to come to an end. It's also that time of year when Glasgow Angling Centre opens it's 30,000 square ft fishingmegastore to host the biggest and best Free angling event in the UK, the famous March Open Weekend.

This year's event will run from the 2nd to the 4th of March 2018, and is set to be the best yet! The GAC team have made some improvements to the format this year, but all your favourite elements of the show will remain.

Lure Fishing Demos
This year's focus is very much about you, the angler, so we've managed to put together our best guest list of fishing stars yet! This year's big names include Mads Grossell of Savage Gear, Paul Young, Davie McPhail, Hywel Morgan, Paul Proctor, Ian Gordon, Scott Makenzie, and Steve Souter, to name but a few. So if you are looking to learn the latest techniques, and have a desire to improve your fishing, you don't want to miss this fantastic opportunity. They are available throughout the weekend and free to have a chat about any aspect of your fishing.

Over the three days, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, watch demos, try things out, meet like minded anglers, and have a great time in the process. With secure, FREE parking for 100’s of cars, toilets, seating, on-site catering, and refreshments available, you can easily spend the whole day in store. There is also FREE fishing tuition available for all types of angling, fly casting lessons, fishing taster session for kids, fly tying demos, rig building workshops, lure fishing demos, bait preparation, and loads more. Therefore, whatever your preferred style of fishing, there’s something for everyone.

If you shoot as well as fish, then don’t forget that the Glasgow Field Sports store is also located within GAC. It is stocked full of hunting equipment and country clothing from top brands like Harkila, Seeland, Jack Pyke, Swarovski and much more. Plus there is a well-stocked gunroom with over 500 new and used airguns, shotguns, and rifles for all your hunting and shooting needs. Paul Innes will also be in attendance with a wide range of Swarovski Optik items on show, giving you the opportunity to try all the latest rifle scopes, spotting scopes and binoculars.

Clyde Outboard services will be attending, with a range of outboard motors and boats plus special offers on repairs and servicing for boat owners. Loads to See
If fly tying is your thing, then you are going to love this year's famous 'fly tyers row.' This year is headlined by Davie McPhail, who is always a big attraction, so get there early to watch him in action. Peter Gathercole, who is a famous photographer for Trout and Salmon and Trout Fisherman Magazine will also be displaying his fly tying skills and available to answer any questions about materials or fly tying in general. And of course, you can't miss Paul Proctor in action.

The Rangers from Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park will be onsite, informing and educating on the fishing and other outdoor activities that are available in the 720 square miles of the park which is less than an hour’s drive away for more than half of Scotland’s population! You can also visit the SGAIC instructor team, who will be providing free fly casting lessons to anglers of all ages and abilities for the entire weekend plus a chance to learn how to tie your own flies! And finally, if you wear a life jacket or buoyancy aid, then this weekend you can get a free check from the RNLI. They will also be highlighting the latest information on water safety.
