This week, Davie McPhail ties the highly-regarded pattern originated by Tony Black, the Ghillies Fly is known as one of the most effective Salmon flies that work across seasons. The fly takes it's name "Ghillie" from the Gaelic word, which stands for man-servant! Similar to that tradition, this Ghillie’s job to be on hand to help you catch the Atlantic Salmon that migrate up the Scottish rivers.
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help.
