One of the most hyped new innovations in spinning rod technology for years has been adopted by top tackle Scandinavian manufacturers Guideline! The launch of the new MicroWave Guide Concept from American Tackle Company created more buzz than any other at all of the International fishing tackle shows in 2013 and won the Best New Innovation award at both the EFTTEX and ICAST shows!
The unique and patented first reduction guide features an incorporated second, much smaller guide which is then followed by micro running guides, eliminating all coiling from the reel spool at the first guide and creating a straight path of the line through all remaining guides - resulting in lighter rods, less friction, longer casts, better accuracy and better resistance to wind knot tangling!
Guideline is one of the first tackle companies in the world to launch a spinning rod featuring this system. Tested during the last twelve months, a select few models of their top of the range LPXe spinning rods will now feature this revolutionary line guide system. The range will feature three sizes to start with, an 8' 2-10gm, a 9'6'' 5-15gm and a 10' 10-30gm models covering all Trout, Salmon, Predator and light sea spinning applications.
American Tackle Company’s European sales manager, Dan Paluch, was very impressed by the performance of the new LPXe MicroWave rods during a weekend of light tackle spinning action for Brown Trout in Sweden earlier this summer with Guidelines Leiv Stavmo. Dan explains the main features of the new guide system as a very special and noticeable feel in the rod while casting.
"The ”feel” is a reduction in vibration which represents friction caused by the oscillating line leaving the spinning reel and going through the line guides. That friction slows line down and decreases casting distance. Most anglers put more power into their cast to compensate which impedes accuracy. This system allows less power to be used to achieve the same distance (or more to increase distance) allowing greater focus on accuracy while reducing fatigue!"
Well known UK angler, Matt Hayes, was also stunned by the performance of the new Guideline MicroWave rods when he had a chance to test them in August.
”These guides will change the way rods are built and designed in a dramatic way. I am deeply impressed by the distance and accuracy achieved with such little effort put into the cast.”
So what are the advantages of the MicroWave Guide System?
§ Increased Casting Distance. Achieved by capturing and directing energy into forward motion maintaining line speed.
§ Reduction in Fatigue. Less force is required for casting using increased line speed because the blank will load and recover more naturally without inhibition from increased line vibration.
§ Increased Casting Accuracy. Less force is required for casting using increased line speed because the blank will load and recover more naturally without inhibition from increased line vibration.
§ Increased Lure Range of Rod. Using controlled energy, lighter and heavier lure weights can be used without rod blank materials compensating for lost efficiency.
§ Wind Knot Tangling Elimination. Converts "pushing line energy" through a guide ring into "pulling line energy" preventing line from travelling beyond the larger stripper guide ring not allowing it to override the frame creating wrapping or knot formation. “ And if that isn't enough we utilize our brand new Snagless running guides out to the tip”. "Why use a stripping guide that's tangle free when you can use a guide that all but eliminates tangles and then employs snagless running guides for added insurance"
The new Guideline LPXe MicroWave rods are available to buy at Glasgow Angling Centre instore and online along with the full range of products from Guideline!
