Tying an Olive Pheasant Tail Upright Nymph by Davie McPhail

Davie ties the upright nymph, a great searching pattern on rivers, and a good way to get beads onto hooks that wouldn't fit in the conventional way.

Materials Used:

Hook - Kamasan B175 size 14
Thread - UniThread 8/0 Olive
Tail - Partridge neck fibres dyed Olive
Rib - Chartreuse UltraWire Small
Body - Pheasant Tail
Thorax - Olive Ice Dub and Squirrel Dubbing mixed together,
Weighted with a 2.5 mm Tungsten Bead held on with 6lb Nylon

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre - if you need any help finding them or choosing substitutes we will be more than happy to help!
