This unexpected Bronze Bream was caught at Rutland Water by Paul Holmes, fly fishing the Normanton Bank near to the dam wall on the 17th June. The fish took a black gold head buzzer fished static under an indicator with a floating line. After a 10 minute fight on 4lb tippet, the fish was finally landed and weighed in at 6.5lb. A personal best Bream for Paul, but a totally unexpected catch whilst fly fishing for Rutland Trout. The fish was previously spotted rolling and splashing on the surface about 30 yards out, but was thought to have been a large Brown Trout chasing fry.
