Hardy Announce Limited Edition Reel for Royal Wedding

Hardy have announced that they will be producing an engraved, commemorative edition of the St. George reel in a limited run of 100 numbered reels to mark the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011.
Limited Edition St George reel
Named after St. George, the Saint of England that slayed the dragon in the famous legend, the original model in this long running series was a 3 3/4″ trout reel, weighing just six ounces. Not only was it an incredibly light reel for its day – it was also fitted with innovative features of the time like the agate line guard and compensating click check. The St. George range of reels were produced in the Hardy factory in Alnwick from 1911 until as recently as 1983 and for Hardy reel collectors, St. George reels in good condition are considered something to behold and cherish, and as such are highly sought after. Many fly fishers all over the world still use them to fish with, in particular fans of bamboo rods and salmon angler's who just love the "music" of the click pawl drag!

The Commemorative 3-inch St. George reel is finished in an attractive gold colour and will will be available in right or left hand retrieve from mid April - expect them to be priced at around £899

Glasgow Angling Centre will have a limited number available, on a first come first served basis - I you are interested in owning one simply contact us for more information.
