Tying a Grey & Red Spider (Dry Fly) with Davie McPhail

Davie ties a Grey and Red Spider, an extremely effective all-round dry fly that generally imitates a range of dark duns and other flies. Tied here with spent-style wings, the Grey and Red makes a big footprint in the film, and is just as effective on the river as on stillwater.
Materials Used;
Hook: Kamasan B170 Size 14
Thread: Uni Black 8/0
Tail: Natural Red Game Indian Cock and Coq de Leon Hen Fibres
Rib: Small Silver Uni Wire
Body: Uni Black 8/0
Hackles: Natural Red Game Indian Cock and Coq de Leon Hen Fibres

Davies preferred type of whip finish tool can be found HERE!

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre - if you need any help finding them or choosing substitutes we will be more than happy to help!
