Tying the Green Spey with Davie McPhail

Davie ties a Spey style fly and as always this video is filled with great hints and tips from the man himself! The Alec Jackson hooks are similar to the Partridge Salar Single hooks and these could be used as an alternative if you can't find the AJ hook locally.

Materials Used:
Hook: Silver Alec Jackson Single
Tag: Oval silver tinsel.
Rib: Silver wire.
Body: UTC holographic green tinsel.
Wing: Chartreuse fox over chartreuse krystal flash.
Collar: Dyed green golden pheasant breast behind chartreuse dyed teal or mallard flank.
Cheeks: Jungle cock
Head: Chartreuse and Black

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre - if you need any help finding them or choosing substitutes we will be more than happy to help!

  1. I tried tying these yesterday and they did not turn out even close to Davie's. Minus the Jungle cock since I didn't have any. Great blog, you got a new follower
