The Corrib DuckFly - Fly Tying with Davie McPhail

The perfect representation of an early season fly, the Duck Fly originates from Ireland. Irish duck fly patterns are known to be extremely effective and nab huge quantities of trout from Irish Loughs. Duck Flies are perfect for fishing on any Stillwater.

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Without further ado, here's Davie McPhail's take on a Corrib DuckFly.


Materials Used:

Hook: Kamasan B160 Sz12
Thread and Body: Uni - 8/0 Black
Tag: Substitute for Uni 2-Tone Mylar
Rib: UTC Ultra Wire: Silver
Thorax: Hot Orange SLF and Seals Fur mixed
Wings: White Cock Hackle Tips
Hackle: Black Hen
