The reasons why our Open Weekends are so successful is that we place a great deal of time and resources on learning and helping anglers to improve in all areas of their chosen fishing discipline. That's why we have free fly casting tuition, sea rig tying demos, fly-tying demos, lure fishing tips and tricks, presentations and loads more. We even have two massive lure tanks where you can try all the latest drop shot and LRF techniques using all the latest rods, lures and braids.

Fully Rigged Sea Fishing Kayaks

Other great reasons why these events are so popular include the ability to try out a piece of kit, for example, a fly rod, with the individual who actually designed and tested it. If you are struggling to learn a particular fly tying technique then there are experts on hand to show you step by step how to do it. Even if you define yourself as a specific type of angler, there is so much to see and do that will inspire you to explore other fishing styles and techniques, leading to new places and adventures.

Given September's footfall, this format clearly demonstrates that there is a huge desire for growth and improvement in the sport and the number of participants continues to grow year on year. Couple this with our impressive list of fishing experts and you have a recipe that makes Autumn's event truly unique.

At these events, we try to cover every fishing discipline including game, sea, coarse, and predator, and invite some of the biggest names in each area. September's event featured famous names like Ian Gordon of Hardy, Scott Mackenzie, Hywel Morgan and Stevie Munn. For LRF enthusiasts we had Jake Schogler of Tronixpro. On the sea fishing front, we had Stevie Souter. Pike and Predator specialist Dan Esox from Daiwa was also on hand to promote the new Prorex range. We also had a great lineup of fly tiers including Ian McKenzie, Alistair Hutchens and Scott Aitken from suppliers Partridge and Veniard. Other representatives included Luc Coppens from Westin, Jason Stokes and Craig Renwick from Savage Gear, Jenny Gordillo and Danny Parkins from Costa Del Mar and Steve Peterson from Simms. These were just some of the names on the list who came along to pass on their knowledge and to help anglers with their questions about tackle and technique.

Overall, there is still a buzz about the weekend. The car parks were full and loads of happy anglers were snapping up the bargains. However, what was special about this event is the sense of community and camaraderie among anglers. Like-minded individuals with a love for the freedom and adventure of fishing came together to indulge their passion. It provided many with a great day out and despite the weather on Sunday, people were arriving in their droves to be part of Scotland's Biggest and Best Free Angling Event.
