GAC Spring Open Weekend Event 2016 - 4th, 5th and 6th of March 2016!

With the start of the new angling season fast approaching, It will soon be time for Glasgow Angling Centres massive 3 day Spring Open Weekend Event on the 4th, 5th and 6th of March 2016 – set to be the biggest and best fishing show the country has ever seen! Over the three day event, the GAC puts on its bi-annual fishing extravaganza at their massive 30,000sqft store and dedicated anglers travel from all over the UK and abroad to pick up some of the 1000’s of extra special bargains on offer, get free advice from the people in the know or simply to rub shoulders with their angling heroes like Paul Young, Hywel Morgan, Scott MacKenzie, Ian Gordon and many more! Every major brand in the tackle industry will be there too, showing off their latest products and their representatives will be on hand to answer all of your questions on how to get the best out of your gear! You can easily spend a whole day in the store, with easy FREE parking for 100’s of cars, toilets, seating, onsite catering and refreshments to keep you going - and so much to see and do and this time we will even have a bouncy castle and activities for the kids!

Glasgow Angling Centre has been trading since 1988 and now boasts the largest range of fishing tackle and clothing in Europe, with almost 45,000 items on display and over 50 knowledgeable staff to assist you in their huge showroom! Hundreds of rods line the racks, already fully set up for you to have wiggle or even try out on the 30 metre outdoor casting pool or the nearby canal basin, and an equally large number of reels to suit all types of angling are on display too with just a few choice models behind glass – the vast majority on show where you can touch and feel. Free fishing tuition for kids with GHOF and SFCA! 
But it’s not all about buying nice new fishing gear - there is always lots to see and do over the 3 days of a GAC Open Weekend! Bringing newcomers into the sport of angling is very important to the team at GAC and giving everyone – and especially kids,  the right start in angling is a huge part of the event.  Angling charity ‘Get Hooked on Fishing’ will be running FREE coarse fishing taster sessions on the nearby canal basin for kids, always very popular so make sure you book your places in advance - check out the GAC Blog for more details! The RNLI Scotland Sea Safety Unit will be in attendance to carry out FREE lifejacket checks for anyone who brings theirs along as well as giving advice on how to keep safe while on or near water whether you are fishing or not. The girls from Ladies Fishing will also be instore, promoting women’s angling – a fast growing movement within the sport. Rangers from Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park will be onsite too, informing and educating on the fishing and other outdoor activities that are available in the 720 square miles of the park which is less than an hour’s drive away for more than half of Scotland’s population! The world’s finest fly-casters and instructors, including Hywel Morgan, Scott MacKenzie, Ian Gordon, Jim Curry, Andrew Toft, Jim Fearn and Stevie Munn will be on hand to help you improve your technique and get the most from your tackle! The format is improved upon year on year with the help of materials supplier Veniard. An inspiring line-up of top tyers will show you how to perform the latest techniques and use the latest materials. When not tying, they roam the fly tying aisles, giving free advice and helping you to choose the best materials from the Glasgow Angling Centres vast selection.
