GAC to Launch Einarsson Fly Reels at Spring Open Weekend Event!

We are please to announce that Einarsson Fly Reels of Iceland are coming to Glasgow Angling Centre and will be launching their exciting range of products at the GAC Spring Open Weekend Event on the 6th, 7th and 8th of March 2015!
The Einarsson Plus series fly reels are made in different sizes to fit all sorts of fishing situations, from small trout fishing in a lake or a creek, up to big reels for big fish both in salt and fresh water. The brake system is completely sealed and the stainless steel parts are saltwater proof. Combination of materials used in the drag system ensure a silky smooth drag that retains constant force at all settings.
The Plus Series from Einarsson are available in five sizes: 3plus, 5plus, 7plus, 8plus and the 9plus. Each model has an identical sealed braking system built on the same design principles although there is a difference in braking strength between sizes. Reels are available in three standard colors: Black, Bronze and Clear. All plus reels carry a limited lifetime warranty!

Imagine that you are on the river bank, casting to a fish, in readiness for the take. Suddenly you can feel your line tighten, the rod bends and the energy from the fish surges through your tackle. You are into the fight, and as the synapses fire off in your brain the pleasure which every fly fishermen knows so well consumes you, holding you transfixed in the moment. Until you are snapped back to reality as the line breaks or the hook pulls out! This is where unique drag system of the Invictus fly reel comes into play. The SAB drag system that Einarsson have designed reduces the required start up inertia by overcoming the breakaway friction as the reel spool begins to spin, alleviating both the shock and the brief delay in allowing line to be dispensed from the reel. This smoother delivery translates into more control at the take and during sudden strong runs.

Let’s wind back and look at the physics. When the fish pulls out line the fly rod bends and what actually happens is that the line, leader and rod are storing this energy. Modern fly reels then convert this stored energy from the fish into heat at the brake system, always with a measurable spike in brake away friction. The technical revelation Einarsson Fly Fishing is presenting to the fly fishing world has the ability to store part of the fish-generated energy in the reel system - for the first time ever brake away friction is actually zero. Shock tippet is now actually built in to the reel. The new brake system ensures that the transition in the brake system is softer compared to leading brands in the reel market - this has been measured and documented by the Icelandic Innovation Centre. The system will level out shockwaves during a take or fight, such as those from jumping and head shaking of the fish. This invention allows you to experience more pleasure, through the use of lighter tackle, less snapped leaders and surely more landed fish. All Einarsson Invictus reels are engineered and assembled at our factory in Iceland. By monitoring the entire process they can uphold their standards to the highest quality reels available.
The founder of Einarsson fly fishing, Steingrimur Einarsson, started the company in 2007. The company was born out of a passion for outstanding engineering and a dedication to fly fishing. The core idea behind the company is to design and manufacture top quality fly reels. Steingrimur caught his first fish on a fly at the tender age of 7. This was near to his home in Iceland while fishing the legendary river Sog, From this moment on his passion for fly fishing had began.
Me and my friends usually started to fish for Arctic Char and Brown Trout beginning of May, or as soon as water temperature was up to 4°C. We fished throughout the summer almost every day. I consider myself as being very lucky, able to grow up in the fantastic surrounding of Sog and the big lake Thingvallavatn.
Einarsson Fly Reels are born out of the fanatical pursuit of fly fishing and a passion for exemplary engineering. The pedigree of this company is firmly rooted in 25 years of manual and automated machining/engineering combined with a lifetime of fly fishing and guiding. Based in Isafjordur, Iceland, Einarsson Fly Fishing captures the very essence of artisan principles while embracing cutting edge technologies in design and manufacturing. Steingrimur Einarsson founder said -

From the very start we have worked continuously on improving the performance, quality and functionality of our design. Our aim is that our reels give the fisherman something extra and of course to last a lifetime…or two! My technical background comes from CNC engineering and design. For a long time it has been my passion to make high quality fly reels, in 2004 the first seven reels were produced for personal use only. Soon I experienced interest from Icelandic fly fishermen and friends who have learned about the reels so a potential market in Iceland was emerging and thoughts turned to developing a marketing strategy.

One thing lead to another and Einarsson Fly Fishing was started. Einarsson Fly Fishing moved into a new production facility in the beginning of 2009, followed by a investment in CNC production machinery. All machining work for the Invictus reels is now undertaken in-house.

Two different types of reels are manufactured at Einarsson, the Plus series and the Invictus. Plus series is a redesigned version of the first reel made in 2004 and are now manufactured in 4 different sizes. The Einarsson Plus reels are machined and assembled in high standard factory in Korea. Einarsson quality team monitors the entire process in order to strive and uphold our standards of the highest quality.
From the very start the design team of Einarsson has had one goal in mind, to design and build a brake system that would be smoother than any other ever made. The result is the patented Shock Absorbing Brake technology - SAB, the smoothest brake system ever made. The Invictus reel with the SAB system have now been in use since 2012 and are sold worldwide.
Einarsson fly reels goal is to produce an innovative, high quality reels with minimum environmental impact. As a fly fishing company, conservation of the environment is a 'no brainer' - no environment …. no fish….. no tackle company! It’s that simple.

By buying high quality equipment and minimizing use of consumable supplies we can cut down on energy and material waste. Einarsson Fly Fishing as a company has been built with strong environmental credentials in order to build a better future for fly fishing. As part of this work, Einarsson Fly Fishing supports the North Atlantic Salmon Fund through the One Percent For The Planet program. By actively sharing information and communicating the values of sustainable fishing and sustainable living Einarsson Fly Fishing invites you to join the family, enjoy the products and together make a difference in the ever challenging environmental battle.

Over fishing of rivers and lakes is a reality and many good fishing spots have seen a decline in fish stocks with an ever increasing number of anglers. Fishery conservation through implementation of catch and release fishing has proven very successful in many waters and when done properly can increase fish population in heavily fished waters. Protecting the world’s fishing grounds is of utmost importance to fly fishermen. Therefore we practice C/R and encourage all our customers to do the same, if at all possible.

The full range of Einarsson Fly reels is available to buy from Glasgow Angling Centre both online and instore and the Einarsson team will be instore for our Spring Open Weekend Event on the 6th, 7th and 8th of March 2015 to show off their new reels and answer any questions!
