Tying an Olive CDC Dun (DryFly) with Davie McPhail.

Davie ties an Olive CDC Dun, a cracking, all purpose dry fly that floats like a cork, and is equally deadly for Trout on still or moving water. Simple to tie, the Olive CDC Dun is a super effective, but easily adaptable pattern that can be tied in a range of sizes and colours.
Materials Used:
Hook: Partridge SLD or SUD Barbless size 12 to 18
Thread: Uni 8/0 Olive, Yellow or Dark Brown 8/0
Tail: Ginger and Golden Olive Cock Fibres
Body: CDC dyed Olive wound up to form body and Thorax
Wing: Four Natural CDC Feathers
Thorax Cover: Opaque Olive Razor Foam

Davies preferred type of whip finish tool can be found HERE!

All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre - if you need any help finding them or choosing substitutes we will be more than happy to help!
