Tying an Olive CDC Dun (DryFly) with Davie McPhail.

Davie ties an Olive CDC Dun, a cracking, all purpose dry fly that floats like a cork, and is equally deadly for Trout on still or moving water. Simple to tie, the Olive CDC Dun is a super effective, but easily adaptable pattern that can be tied in a range of sizes and colours.
Materials Used:
Hook: Partridge SLD or SUD Barbless size 12 to 18
Thread: Uni 8/0 Olive, Yellow or Dark Brown 8/0
Tail: Ginger and Golden Olive Cock Fibres
Body: CDC dyed Olive wound up to form body and Thorax
Wing: Four Natural CDC Feathers
Thorax Cover: Opaque Olive Razor Foam

Reisa Salmon Fly Fishing 20/40 Pound Club comes to GAC!

Have you ever wanted to catch a 20, 30 or 40 lbs Atlantic Salmon on Fly?
There are only a few rivers in the world which regularly produce 30 and 40lb Salmon and 20lbs Salmon in good numbers, and the Reisa Elva in northern Norway is one of them. The Reisa is the southern neighbour of the world famous Alta and its salmon display some genetic similarities with its more famous sister, not least their size. The Reisa 20/40 Pound Club has been established to offer Salmon fly fishermen exclusive (double bank) and semi-exclusive (single bank) access to rotating closed zones through-out the entire river. December 2012 FOTM Winners!

The winner of the final GAC Fish of the Month Competition of 2012 is John Dixon with this picture of an awesome Cod caught from the shore! As usual, the judging of Decembers competition was left to our many thousands of Facebook fans, who voted on their favourite pictures by hitting the Like button, and John was the clear winner with a massive 412 Likes on our Facebook Gallery!

Every month our FOTM competition gets bigger and better with amazing pictures of many different fish species from around the world being sent in by our customers and as we now get so many great entries we have decided to give a GAC Cap to the entrants that came in 2nd and 3rd place as well, so here are the runners up,  Stuart Benson and Daniel Muir, both with cracking big Pike, who you can see below - well done guys!

If you would like to enter our January 2013 FOTM competition simply send us a photograph of you and your catch, when and where you caught your fish, and what tackle and method you used HERE.
