Clyde Outboard Services confirm for GAC September Open Weekend!

Clyde Outboard Services, the leading provider of outboards and related services in the Glasgow and Clyde area, will once again be at our September Open Weekend showing off some of the latest Honda outboard motors and giving advice on how best to maintain your 2 stroke and 4 stroke outboards. They will also be offering some great deals over the weekend including...

  • 10% off all new Honda outboards for everyone attending the show
  • A prize draw to win a free service on your outboard - any make, any model welcome
  • Book your outboard in for a service at the show and get 10% off
  • Bring your outboard to the store for a service (up to 25hp, please pre book)

Clyde Outboard Services was Launched in 2006 with the aim of providing servicing, repairs and parts for outboard owners in the Glasgow and Clyde area. As well as the workshop, Clyde Outboards provide a mobile service, travelling to you to service your outboard. This is more convenient for outboard owners who can not get to a service centre for reasons such as their outboard being to heavy or fixed to their boat. They are also an official Honda Dealership, and their premises includes a showroom where Honda outboards, inflatables, parts and accessories are on display.

They will also be displaying the popular portable boat from Ezyboat! It's a 14ft boat that folds in half which makes it easy to transport and store.  On the water it's light and easy to use, with a hull design that makes it extremely stable and versatile for a variety of fishing situations on both salt and freshwater.  It can safely take 4 people without tipping and can handle a top speed with 2 fishermen and all your gear of around 23mph on the water.

The Ezyboat has a built-in trailer so it can be attached straight to a car for towing and can be launched very easily without the need for a separate trailer!  Once on the water, the wheels are retracted into the hull which causes minimal drag.

So if you are an outboard owner, or are considering buying one, this is another great reason why you should not miss the GAC September Open Weekend on the 29th and 30th of September 2012 or visit the Clyde Outboard Services website here - www.clyde-outboard-services.co.uk

Winning Gear at Glasgow Angling Centre

As new products enter the market, it creates an even greater landscape for the angler to navigate to the right kit which completely satisfies their requirements.  Confusion, indecision and 'analysis paralysis' are commonplace during this process.  However the road gets so much easier when you know a product has been tried and tested by a 'trusted authority,' and there's no better authority than Trout Fisherman Magazine.

Robbie Winram, Trout Fisherman's independent fishing tackle tester has tested 1000's of items throughout his 30 year flyfishing career, and as a consequence of his honest reviews,  has taken the pain out of choosing the right gear. This month, Robbie tested our very own Stillwater Carron Deluxe Boat Bag and our exclusive range of Guideline Reach Fly Rods, both of which achieved unsurprisingly high praise.
Carron Deluxe Boat Bag
Here's what Robbie said about the Carron Deluxe Bag:

"This bag offers plenty of storage options and won't bust the budget."
"I think it would also suit the bank angler."
"Inside is a spacious main cargo compartment measuring 19x10x8.5 inches that can be subdivided with 5 removable dividers."
"This bag functions very well and does its job, all at an excellent price."

Glasgow Angling Centre recently hooked up with tackle manufacturer Guideline to produce an exclusive range of fly rods.  We knew at the time they would be a massive hit, but it's nice to have that belief upheld.
Guideline Reach Fly Rod

Here's what Robbie said about the Guideline Reach Fly Rods:

"These are superb value rods at under £100, but don't make the mistake of thinking the price tag makes them suitable for only beginners.  Even experienced anglers will enjoy the feel and merits of this range."
"These rods are reasonably light compared to other similarly priced rods, but the finish is of a very high standard."

Essentially, quality does't necessarily mean spending a fortune!  These two products are proof that you can actually get the performance benefits of higher end fishing tackle, but at a fraction of the cost.  But don't let the accolades convince you.  You'll want to buy this stuff to find out for yourself.
