Airflo Turbo Heads!

The new Airflo Turbo Head shooting heads have been developed using the technology and know-how we have seen coming from the Scandinavian market in recent years. Shooting heads have gained a massive following among Salmon anglers over the last decade or so, and the reason is simple – they make casting so easy! These Scandi style heads, when matched to an appropriate running line can transform your casting from Zero to Hero, allowing you to quickly load up your rod and with very little effort achieve incredible distances – far easier than the more traditional Spey lines especially when deep wading or in tight spots.
The new Airflo Turbo Head system is available in a full range of line weights and densities, and this allows you to find and cover the fish taking depth from top to bottom, plus these heads all work incredibly well with Airflo Polyleaders to help fine tune your presentation with pin point accuracy.

We’ve been lucky enough to secure a massive quantity of these Scandinavian Style shooting heads from Airflo and this one off deal is a great way to get you started with this incredibly efficient casting technique and at this price there has never been a better time to try experimenting with custom cutting heads to specific weights and lengths to suit your favourite rod or even your favourite pool on a Salmon river - something that many anglers daren't try with shooting heads costing £50 or more!

Airflo Turbo Head Features:
  • Choice of densities to suit all fishing situations
  • Perfect for Underhand, single spey or switch style casting
  • Heads colours may vary & not all heads are pre-looped
  • Choice of line sizes to suit any rod length and weight
  • Suited for beginners and expert alike
These lines are perfectly matched with our tapered running line to achieve great casting control and unbelievable distances. Click here to check out the Airflo Turbo Heads

Come and see the Ezyboat at GAC

Our friends at Clyde Outboard Services will be at Glasgow Angling Centre on Saturday 21st and Sunday the 22nd of July to showcase the Ezyboat.

Ezyboat
It's a 14ft boat that folds in half which makes it easy to transport and store.  On the water it's light and easy to use, with a hull design that makes it extremely stable and versatile for a variety of fishing situations on both salt and freshwater.  It can safely take 4 people without tipping and can handle a top speed with 2 fishermen and all your gear of around 23mph.

The Ezyboat has a built-in trailer so it can be attached straight to a car for towing and can be launched very easily without the need for a separate trailer!  Once on the water, the wheels can be retracted into the hull which causes minimal drag.

It is a superb piece of kit and we're sure there will be a lot of interest this weekend, so get yourself along to Glasgow Angling Centre and see the Ezyboat for yourself!

New Airflo Ridge Supple Impact Mini-Tip Lines!

The new Ridge Supple Impact Mini Tip range from Airflo is now available to buy from GAC! After the incredible success and subsequent time spent fishing with the original 3’ Mini Tip lines,  plus the hundreds of customer reviews and feedback received, the flyline design team at Airflo realised that a lot more development could be done in the sink tip market.

As a result of this research and development Airflo have released a range of Slow and Fast Intermediate tip lines in the Ridge Supple Impact Taper range. Designed specifically for the stillwater angler, these lines will also be extremely useful for streamer fishing in both coastal and running waters. The Impact taper design with its relatively short front taper and long rear taper loads easily and work well in a wide range of applications for anglers of all abilities.
The bestselling Ridge Impact range just got better!
6’ Slow Tip - First in the line up is the 6’ Slow Intermediate Tip, this line has a pale fluorescent yellow main line and a translucent olive 6’ tip section. Developed with the ‘Washing Line’ technique in mind, this line keeps you in direct contact even with the slowest of retrieves, without sinking the flies too deep and eliminates the hinge effect you experience on the 3’ fast intermediate tip ( this hinge is great for deep nymphing, but not perfect for surface fishing). Available in WF6, WF7 and WF8.

6’ Fast Tip - This 6’ fast tip helps you drop the flies deeper in the water column, but due to its long level tip section, does not pull down the floating belly for improved depth control. With a pale olive main body and a translucent green fast intermediate tip section, this line is perfect for wake avoidance with streamers and exceptional for deep nymphing on windy days. Available in WF6, WF7 and WF8.

12’ Fast Tip - The perfect line for getting deep and holding depth, giving you control over your flies level on the brightest of days when fish refuse to come up in the water column. Available in WF6, WF7 and WF8.

The full range of Airflo fly lines and accessories is available to buy from Glasgow Angling Centre both online and instore!

The Sea Angler Guide to Rigs, Marks and Species

Sea angling has evolved a great deal since Sea Angler first published its now legendary Bait and Rigs book way back in 1996. But how could they possibly improve on it? The Sea Angler team have always been proud of two of their key strengths - the quality of the images taken by their highly skilled team of photographers, and the detailed artwork drawn by their very own artist, Dave Batten.
Essential reading!
So why not combine the two to produce a sea angling book that not only inspires you to fish, but shows you how to do it at the same time and what sea fishing tackle you should use? With 30 chapters to read there’s a lot expertise, excitement and knowledge ahead. This 148-page information packed book is basically divided into three distinct areas; catching seasonal shore species, advice on how to catch from classic shore marks and, finally, how to catch fish from charter boats. Plus, scattered through the book are vital instruction panels and pages, which show you how to complete key tasks like tying hooks, swivels and leaders, tricks on how to bait hooks and how to tie the best all round flapper shore rig. Instruction aside, it is the stunning images and clear artwork that stand out in this newly published book, which reflects the very best in sea angling.
The Sea Angler Guide to Rigs, Marks and Species is available to buy for just £9.99 plus P&P from the Go Fishing website HERE! An essential addition to any sea fishing enthusiast's reading material!

Sage ONE Double Handers - Now in Stock!

The long awaited Sage ONE Salmon fly rods have finally come into stock at GAC! If you have one pre-ordered with us it will soon be winging its way to you and if you haven't, then you can be one of the first in the UK to buy one now either instore or online, but be quick - we have limited stock at the moment and these won't hang around!
After the single-handed Sage ONE rod range won major awards in 2011-2012, including the EFTTEX Best Fly Rod, IFTD Best Freshwater and Saltwater Fly Rod, Field & Stream’s Best of the Best, and Men’s Journal Gear of the Year and, the two-handed Sage ONE Spey rods are a natural progression.

These fast-action, two-handed ONE fly rods use Konnetic™ technology making them noticeably more accurate and lighter weight with a decidedly thinner profile. Thanks to the shaft’s enhanced torsional stability, these rods recover extremely quickly while moving through the cast. This optimizes load carry and line speed for long, smooth casts every time. Combining these attributes makes long days of swinging flies effortless by decreasing fatigue and minimizing wind resistance.

This collection of Sage ONE Salmon fly rods continues using the sleek Black Ice shaft colour with black primary thread wraps and bronze trim wraps. A down-locking aluminium reel seat is relative to rod size throughout the line. The Rio Unispey System

Rio’s new UniSpey line is the ultimate all round, general purpose Spey line, and is now available to buy from GAC! Ideal for medium and larger sized rivers, more than two years of product testing and taper tweaking has resulted in an extraordinarily easy casting line, with a long front taper that produces ultra smooth, efficient loops. The line will easily cast larger flies and cope with tricky winds, yet lands with a great presentation that will not disturb glass-smooth pools.

The Rio UniSpey features a long, precise front taper that produces ultra smooth, efficient loops and incredible turnover of larger flies even in tough winds. The easy-casting, mid-belly length head is an exceptionally good line choice for fishing medium to large sized rivers, and the unique taper design creates long, effortless casts and a presentation gentle enough to not disturb quiet pools.
Three different formats of the UniSpey cover all angling preferences for the spey caster; a full floating line with integrated running line; a full floating shooting head; and a multi-tip style VersiTip shooting head.
Rio UniSpey Line Taper
The fully integrated floating Spey line has a total length of up to 130 ft and is ideal for anglers that do not like knots or loop to loop connections shooting through the rod guides. It has a black loading point near the end of the head to easily show anglers the best place to load the rod.
Rio UniSpey Shooting Head Taper
The floating shooting head has a welded loop on both ends for fast rigging and is designed to provide a longer belly option for anglers that prefer to use shooting heads and choose their own running line.
Rio UniSpey VersiTip Head Taper
The VersiTip shooting head includes a 20ft. long floating tip allowing anglers to switch between the floating tip and standard 15ft sinking Rio VersiTips when conditions dictate. The body has been designed to have enough power to turnover heavy T-11 or T-14 tips when needed.

The UniSpey lines are made in a Light Grey colour and are available from a 6/7 weight through 10/11, with varying head lengths. The full floating line, the floating shooting head, and the VersiTip head are available from Glasgow Angling Centre both instore and online!
