New York - A Fishing Metropolis

The guys at Wychwood Game fly fishing recently embarked on a trip across the pond, to the well documented but little known state of New York. They were promised hard fighting fish across a variety of species in diverse surroundings - and they were not disappointed...

As Wychwood Game's brand/design manager Paul Richardson, describes "The thing that struck me most about New York is the diversity of fishing available, both in terms of location and all the different species of fish - which is a perfect platform for our intense product testing programs!" The trip was documented by film/production company ClockworkCloud and they aim to launch on 21st July 2012 - Part 1 of the short film NEW YORK: A FISHING METROPOLIS.

This 2012 Film première promises to capture and highlight the awe-inspiring experience that they undertook. Here we have the trailer for the first part of this film - we can't wait to see the full thing - and hope you can't too!!

Charles Jardine is a fly fisherman regarded by many around the world as a master of the sport. He is a modern day fly fishing virtuoso with an immense pool of knowledge to draw upon, which is exactly what Wychwood have done! Over the past two seasons Charles has been working in collaboration with the Wychwood designers to bring to the market a range of fly lines which have been commended for both their performance and simplicity. In an often over-embellished world, these fly lines cut the bull and deliver to the consumer only what they require, when they require it. These products simply do "exactly as it says on the tin." - and after a quick test we have come up with a quick review of each line in the range.

The Distance Floating Line - The fly line that will get you a Gold medal for distance. A bullet-style body shape creates a distance taper that forms powerful, tight loops when cast. When fish are moving just out of range, pick it up and fire it out! Works like a dream on Stillwater reservoirs or lakes hitting the extreme distances required, working exceptionally well with teams of flies or lures. If you like big flies & big casts, this is the one for you! Available in WF5 to WF8 from Glasgow Angling Centre - visit us to try one before you buy on our casting pool!

The Presentation Floating Line - This fly line has been specifically designed for situations which require stealth, delicacy and finesse! The long slender body forms a presentation taper that casts like a dream, holding super-tight loops to deliver you pin-point accuracy. It continually floats toward to the surface of the water; meaning it lands gracefully without so much as a ripple.  Perfectly suited to River or Stream fishing, as well as being the ultimate Stillwater dry fly or nymph line. The smaller & more natural the fly, the better it works! Available in WF3 to WF8 from Glasgow Angling Centre - visit us to try one before you buy on our casting pool!

The Just Under Intermediate Line - This is the fly line that sinks so slow it almost hovers – remaining just under the surface of the water. The majority of its weight is close to the tip of the body, meaning it shoots those flies out to great distances with ease. The ultimate Stillwater buzzer and nymph line, forever keeping your flies in the strike zone of those natural feeding fish - in the top 2ft of water! Available in WF5 to WF8 from Glasgow Angling Centre.

The Mid-Water Sinking Line - This fly line likes to be in mid-water - not quite the top and not quite the bottom - where most people believe the fish to be the majority of the time! The perfect small Stillwater sinking line, working well with any type of fly from nymphs to blobs to lures. If you want to be consistently fishing 2-6ft deep, this is the one for you! Available in WF6 to WF8 from Glasgow Angling Centre.

The Deepwater Sinking Line - This fly line likes to hit the deeper water of the UK’s Stillwater’s.  A slender running line and front weighted body style to cast those large flies with ease. The perfect large Stillwater sinking line, working well with any type of fly from nymphs to blobs to lures. If you want to be consistently fishing 6-10ft deep, this is the one for you! Available in WF6 to WF8 from Glasgow Angling Centre.

The Bottom Sinking Line - This is the fly line that sinks like a lead balloon - the ‘depth charger’ of the fly-fishing world. It's quickly out of sight taking your flies to the bottom – down to the monsters of the deep - without haste, time and time again. Perfect for use on large stillwater’s when you’re playing with boobies and searching for bottom. For fish on (or near) the bottom, use this! Available in WF6 to WF8 from Glasgow Angling Centre.

The Ride The Wave Saltwater Floating Line - The fly line that should have been born a surfer - hitting the largest waves in the ocean, way out on the horizon, riding them effortlessly - thanks to its distance casting taper and super hi-buoyancy core. Perfectly suited to saltwater fishing, its place is on UK coastlines and sandy beaches. Available in WF7 to WF10 from Glasgow Angling Centre.

The Into The Blue Saltwater Sinking Line - This fly line should have been born a scuba-diver, it will get you out into the big blue as far as I can, searching out those big saltwater monsters lurking beneath the waves. Like a submarine, cruising the depths of the ocean, perfect for targeting those big saltwater giants. Available in WF7 to WF10 from Glasgow Angling Centre.
