Tying the Toucan Salmon Fly with Davie McPhail

The Toucan is a well proven Aberdeenshire river Dee pattern for sea trout, and more recently a popular pattern on the river Tay and Tyne for Salmon.



Materials Used:

Hook - Partridge Salar Double size 3
Tag - Oval Gold Tinsel
Tail - Golden Pheasant Tippets
Body - Black Unifloss
Rib - Oval Gold Tinsel
Wing - Heron Subs or Greylag Shoulder
Hackle - Dyed Black Blue Eared Pheasant or Golden Pheasant Body
