Hardy Perfect Diamond Jubilee Reel

In 1912, Hardy Bros. introduced a new and improved variation of their ‘floating pawl' check and regulator system into their already world renowned Perfect reels. This new variation of the floating pawl system became widely known as the 1912 pattern check and was incorporated into almost all Hardy Perfect reels made between 1911 and 1916. It is widely regarded as the finest and most wide ranging check system that Hardy Bros. have ever made and the originals are highly sought after by collectors.
A Limited Edition of 250 reels will be made!
100 years on, Hardy Bros. have decided to incorporate the 1912 system into a limited edition run of 250 reels which commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the 140th anniversary of the Hardy company, and also celebrating 100 years since the introduction of the 1912 pattern check.

Designed, developed and manufactured at Hardy Bros., in Alnwick, England, the reels will be made as a Limited edition of 250 reels worldwide. Each reel will be hand assembled and inspected by Hardy master reel makers. The frame and spool will be made from aluminium bar Stock 6061 and each reel will feature a red agate line guard set in a handmade nickel silver housing with Ivorine type handle and of course the wide ranging, world renowned 1912 click check system. The winding Plate runs on 15 ball bearings for one of the smoothest actions of any fly reel.
Commemorative engraving on the winding plate
Adding to the reel's aesthetics is an anodised ‘Diamond' silver hand polished finish, special commemorative engraving on the winding plate, two hole pattern on the spool plus hand browned screws securing the reel back. A protective hard black leather ‘Made in England' horseshoe reel case is supplied as well as a commemorative limited edition collectors ‘Hardy Bros' medallion.

A Limited Edition of 250 reels, expected to be available in the spring of 2012, will cost around £1500 and will be available in right or left hand wind - this reel is not interchangeable between LHW and RHW.

A limited number of reels will be available from Glasgow Angling Centre and will be sold on a first come first served basis, please click HERE to buy now.

The Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee (25 years) in 1977 and her Golden Jubilee (50 years) in 2002. The only other British monarch to reach this remarkable landmark was Queen Victoria in 1897.
